Someone has said that Liverpool wants to sign the star player from Atletico Madrid. He would try to hurt Liverpool in the Champions League.
Julian Alvarez made it sound like he might have a role to play on Wednesday in the Champions League against Liverpool. The Atletico Madrid forward almost hurt his team a few days before the big game, and Liverpool has been linked with a move for him.
Liverpool’s first game in Europe is when they host Diego Simeone’s team at Anfield. Alvarez has been Atleti’s dangerous player since the beginning of last season. He has scored 30 goals and set up eight others since moving from Manchester City for £81 million.
To avoid injury, the Argentine had to leave his club in fear after a La Liga win over Villarreal four nights before the Champions League match. He had to be replaced at halftime as a “precaution.”
Simeone told reporters on Saturday, “Until he wakes up tomorrow and gets through his first few hours after the pain he was in.” “We hope it’s nothing and we trust he’ll be back in top condition as soon as possible.”
The 25-year-old has shown signs that he might be ready to play at Anfield without any problems, which is good news for the La Liga team.
Alvarez wrote on Instagram, “Feeling good about the win [smiling emoji] and now my attention is on the first Champions League game [bicep emoji].”
Liverpool will hope that the other team’s forward isn’t feeling 100% because he scored twice against them in five games for his old team, City.
When he left Pep Guardiola’s team in the summer of 2024, he obviously went to Spain, but The Telegraph recently said that there was a short conversation about a swap deal between Liverpool and their title rivals.
One reason for it was that Luis Diaz was said to want to leave Liverpool for Bayern Munich a year before he actually did. With Alvarez possibly wanting to go to Manchester City, it is said that Anfield’s marketing staff have asked City if he is available.
People in charge at Etihad Stadium basically said, “We don’t sell to rivals.” In turn, Liverpool turned down their request to sign Diaz, and the South American players have since made other moves.
