Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta reacts over their 2-0 win against Wolves on Saturday with a strong verdict
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, was happy with his team’s 2-0 win over Wolves in their Premier League start, but he stressed that they still needed to do better.
The Gunners got off to a good start thanks to goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka. They are looking to fight for the title again this season.
Havertz scored the first goal of the game with a well-placed header after Saka crossed the ball. Saka then doubled the lead with a strong strike at the near post, which Havertz set up.
Even though the score was good, Arteta said that his team lost control of the game at times, especially in the second half, which made him angry.
“There are things that could be better, but I’m very happy overall,” Arteta told Sky Sports. “Especially the times in the second half when we didn’t have control because we lost so many easy balls.” Thanks to Wolves as well. I don’t know if it was tiredness or something else. There are times when we need to finish the tasks better.
He also talked to the BBC, where he stressed how important it was for his team to be more efficient when they were in front of goal. “It wasn’t enough at 1-0.” In the first half, we had enough chances to win, but we didn’t. In general, I’m very happy. We should have scored a lot more goals much earlier to make the difference.
When Gabriel Jesus came on for Declan Rice in the 85th minute, it raised concerns late in the game. But Arteta stated that Rice was not hurt and was just having cramps.
Arteta said, “He was cramping a bit.” “His preseason hasn’t been the longest ever.” This morning, he really tried and put in an amazing show.
Jurrien Timber came off the bench and played. This was his first game back after missing most of his first season with the club because of a long-term knee injury. However, Arsenal’s new player Riccardo Calafiori did not play in his first game.
