Arsenal has initiated a record-breaking transfer for a Premier League player, offering £100 million.
Arsenal has informed Newcastle United, their Premier League counterparts, that they are prepared to pay £100 million for Alexander Isak, according to reports. It was anticipated that the Gunners would make an investment in a new striker during the summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta and Edu exerting significant pressure to secure Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. Sesko, who is 21 years old, elected to remain at Leipzig and ink a new contract, resulting in Arsenal’s failure to sign a striker during the remainder of the summer transfer window. Mikel Merino’s arrival in midfield has enabled Arteta to permanently deploy Kai Havertz as a striker, with Gabriel Jesus serving as his understudy or partner. Additionally, Leandro Trossard has been evaluated as a forward. Arsenal’s offense is not experiencing any difficulties this season, as Arteta’s team has scored 15 Premier League goals in eight matches prior to their match against Liverpool on Sunday.
However, there have consistently been allegations that they are deficient in a clinical center-forward capable of ensuring their success and scoring critical goals during a title competition. Arsenal has reportedly submitted a €120 million (£100 million) offer for Newcastle striker Isak in order to “fortify their attacking line during the forthcoming transfer window,” according to reports in Spain. In the summer of 2023, Declan Rice transferred from West Ham to the Gunners for a fee of £100 million, with an additional £5 million in add-ons. However, the report implies that Arsenal may need to surpass this record in order to finalize a deal for Isak. It is alleged that Arsenal is “willing to pay more than 120 million euros (£100m)” for a striker, with Isak being referred to as their “next signing.” Arsenal’s sporting director Edu and manager Arteta have recognized Isak as the optimal addition to their attack. Their objective is to enhance the caliber of the squad and breathe new life into the team. Arsenal has the potential to make the most expensive transfer in the club’s history, while Newcastle would make history with the most expensive sale. Newcastle are not presently in discussions regarding a potential new deal, and Isak still has a significant amount of time remaining on his current contract at St James’ Park, according to the Daily Mail.
