Arsenal has lost a huge player in the form of Benjamin Sesko, a striker from Slovenia, who has decided to stay with German club RB Leipzig and sign a new deal. Arsenal and a few other Premier League clubs were interested in the 21-year-old forward, but he chose to stay with the Bundesliga team, according to well-known writer Fabrizio Romano.
Arsenal was said to be one of the top teams trying to sign Sesko because they wanted to add a promising young striker to their attacking choices. With Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz as forwards, boss Mikel Arteta wanted to add a natural center-forward to help his team win the Premier League title.
Romano, an Italian journalist, revealed on Tuesday morning that Sesko had decided to stay at RB Leipzig and sign a new contract with better terms. This choice is similar to one made by Erling Haaland when he was at Borussia Dortmund. He stayed there with the understanding that he could leave in the future.
“Benjamin Sesko has chosen to STAY at RB Leipzig and sign a new deal with better terms!” A choice was made for the skilled striker, similar to the choice Haaland made when he was at BVB. “Šeško will stay at Leipzig with a new friendly deal for a future exit,” Romano wrote.
Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United were all interested in Sesko, but they will have to change their plans now to make room for him. The young striker’s contract was said to have a release clause worth about £55 million, which the English teams thought could be a good deal.
A lot of big names have been mentioned to Arsenal as they look for a new forward this summer. At first, Arsenal really wanted to sign Newcastle United star striker Alexander Isak, but the Magpies were said to want close to £200 million for him, which made Arsenal look at other possibilities.
Victor Osimhen of Napoli, Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP, Evan Ferguson of Brighton, and Dominic Solanke of AFC Bournemouth are some other strikers who have been mentioned with a move to the Emirates Stadium. Now that Sesko’s choice is official, Arsenal will need to look into these and possibly other players to improve their team for the next season.
