Arsenal XI vs Shakhtar Donetsk: Champions League injury updates, confirmed team news, and predicted lineup Arsenal may be without three critical players
for their Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk this evening. Martin Odegaard, the captain of the Arsenal, is currently unavailable due to a knee injury that he sustained during a game for Norway in September. Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber are also expected to be absent from Mikel Arteta’s squad, as they were both absent from training on Monday afternoon. Saka has been grappling with a hamstring injury that he sustained while competing for England during the most recent international break. The winger was compelled to leave the field during England’s loss to Greece on October 10 and was unable to participate in the Three Lions’ victory over Finland three days later. Arteta has verified that Timber has been absent since the beginning of this month due to a muscular issue. Arsenal’s victory over Southampton on October 5 was missed by the defender, who has not appeared for the team since. Arteta may consider altering his team following that defeat; however, the back four is expected to remain unchanged, unless Timber is immediately reinstated into the squad following his absence due to a muscular issue. Thomas Partey could be replaced by Jorginho in the midfield, and Kai Havertz may also be inserted into the team. On Saturday, Arteta deployed a midfield trio consisting of Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, and Partey at Bournemouth; however, the formation failed to establish a cohesive unit. In order to enhance creativity, Havertz could visit the location. Ethan Nwaneri is a potential candidate; however, Arteta indicated on Monday that it is unlikely that he will appear in the starting lineup. Arsenal’s anticipated lineup (4-3-3) was as follows: Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Havertz, Jorginho, Rice; Sterling, Jesus, Martinelli Doubts: Timber (knock), Saka (hamstring) Odegaard (ankle), Tierney (hamstring), and Tomiyasu (knee) are all currently injured.
