At the age of 12, I registered with Celtic. Subsequently, I abstained from football for two years. Presently, I am collaborating with Lionel Messi.
Sam Wardrop has disclosed his tumultuous voyage, which commenced at Celtic at the age of 12 and culminated in his partnership with Lionel Messi, a football superstar. The former Hoops defender spent nine years at the club before moving on to Dundee United, Dumbarton, and Airdrie.
At the age of 24, he abruptly terminated his career and refrained from kicking a ball for two years, a process known as “cold turkey.” He pursued coaching and social media, two factors that reignited his genuine passion and ignited a journey that he shared through his new skill set to re-enter the professional game. This endeavour was successfully executed with Ljungskile SK in Sweden’s third division.
However, the key traits that were ingrained in him as a player on the field have helped him thrive in a completely new world in his life away from the park. Discipline, dedication, and motivation. He has been able to thrive in other domains as a result of these three standards. One of these initiatives has led him to assist Messi in the launch of his new Mas+ hydration drink in Scotland. Wardrop disclosed to FIFPRO,
“I refrained from kicking a ball for nearly two years.” At the age of 24, I discontinued my participation in football due to my current circumstances. I had lost interest in the game.”I had never been compelled to take a break from the game before.” Football was played continuously, 365 days a year, until that time. It did not provide an abundance of time to investigate alternative paths.
I began to explore other interests intermittently as I had the opportunity to reflect during my absences. Upon my recovery from injury, I experienced a shift in my perspective regarding football, and I encountered difficulty in re-establishing the same level of enthusiasm and fervour that I had consistently cultivated for the sport. Consequently, I resigned.
“Alternatively, I applied the brakes and began to investigate my autonomy.” I had visited numerous countries with football, but I had never ventured beyond the training ground and the hotel. Consequently, I began to travel and explore various regions of the globe on my own.
