At the Manchester United training session, the main things were observed: that most fans never noticed
Manchester United is busy getting ready for this weekend’s Premier League game.
United will go to Southampton to play at St. Mary’s on Saturday at noon. Erik ten Hag and his team will be trying to get back to winning ways after losing to Liverpool at Old Trafford before the international break.
In the past two weeks, United players have gone all over the world to play for their national teams. After their break, United are back at Carrington getting ready to play again in the Premier League.
United will also play Barnsley in the third round of the Carabao Cup and in the league phase of the Europa League next month. Because of this, Ten Hag will have to switch up his team between now and the next international break in October, when a lot of games start.
This week, United trained at Carrington, and Sport looked at some possible clues from that practice in preparation for their Premier League game against Southampton.
The last player United signed during the summer, Manuel Ugarte, was not seen in the most recent pictures from Thursday’s training session at Carrington. He may have been there, but he was not photographed.
Ugarte, on the other hand, only played for Uruguay on Tuesday night before going back to Manchester. Ten Hag stated in his press conference that the midfielder had returned to Carrington on Thursday. In this case, Ugarte might not have been at training because he was at a different session to check his fitness.
Ten Hag said Ugarte would be able to play against Southampton on Saturday. If he didn’t take part in the session but still said Ugarte was fit, it’s likely that he’s eager to get him into the game.
“Manuel Ugarte, you will have seen he played for Uruguay, he returned this afternoon [Thursday], he was the only player who returned today, the rest yesterday, so he is available for this game,” Ten Hag told them.
One player who played for his country was Matthijs de Ligt, who was also working with United on Thursday.
Some parts of the media didn’t like how the center-back played for the Netherlands in their games against Germany and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The game against Liverpool was De Ligt’s first start for United. He was taken off in the middle of the second half.
With any luck, the back will get to play again when the Reds play Southampton on Saturday.
Marcus Rashford was seen talking with Ruud van Nistelrooy, a legend at United and assistant manager, during the training practice.
This season, Rashford hasn’t scored a goal for United yet. He’ll be hoping that changes when the Reds go to St. Mary’s.
Van Nistelrooy had a great record as a striker at Old Trafford, so Rashford will be hoping that the club’s assistant coach can help him.
During United’s most recent practice, Alejandro Garnacho was seen with a new haircut.
The United No. 17 player looks like he dyed his hair blonde before going back to play for his club.
Garnacho came on as a substitute but didn’t play in Argentina’s loss to Colombia on Tuesday night. He will be eager to make a mark when Liverpool plays Southampton this weekend.
