Austrian football manager Oliver Glasner share his verdict concerning Marc Guehi transfer move to Newcastle United

A year after Newcastle United failed to secure Marc Guehi’s signature, he remains associated with a potential transfer to the club.

Newcastle United’s pursuit of Guehi was the dominant factor in the north east’s transfer window last summer. The Palace player was their primary target; however, the Eagles were steadfast in their refusal to permit him to depart Selhurst Park.

A year later, Palace appears to have realized the benefits of this strategy, as they secured the FA Cup with a victory over Manchester City. Additionally, they were able to prevent any concerns regarding relegation by achieving a mid-table finish.

Nevertheless, Guehi’s contract with the Eagles expires in just 13 months, and Palace will be hesitant to let him depart once more. Consequently, they are confronted with a significant decision. They have the option of either retaining him at the club and risking his departure on a free transfer next summer, or selling him this year and risking the loss of their commander before the Europa League season.

The most recent information regarding Newcastle United’s pursuit of Marc Guehi
Guehi has once again emerged as a top target for the Magpies, following Dean Huijsen’s signing for Real Madrid this year and the Magpies’ failure to secure his signature last summer. Last summer, Palace rejected bids exceeding £60 million. Although it is improbable that they will be required to pay that much again in order to secure his signature, it is probable that they will be required to come near to paying a club-record fee in order to finally finalize a deal.

Newcastle are reportedly prepared to make a move for both Bryan Mbeumo and Guehi this summer, according to The Telegraph. Eddie Howe recently expressed his desire for the Magpies to act with urgency in the transfer market, which led to the publication of that report.

Howe stated, “Speed is essential to us, and I have emphasized this internally on numerous occasions.” “Speed is essential because we must be adaptable and prepared to resolve matters promptly, as top-tier players do not remain stationary for extended periods.”

Marc Guehi’s most recent contract
Newcastle’s prospects of acquiring Guehi this summer are still viable provided that he does not execute a new contract at Selhurst Park. This summer may be the final opportunity for Palace to receive any compensation for the defender, as there is only one year remaining.

Oliver Glasner recently stated in an interview with Sky Sports regarding Guehi’s destiny at the club: “I am not interested in commenting on individual players.”

“We could discuss Marc Guehi, Dean Henderson, Adam Wharton, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Daniel Munoz, and Ismaila Sarr, all of whom had an exceptional season for us.” We will not be able to sell all of them.

The message was issued in response to Glasner’s admission in April that the club and Guehi had been in discussions regarding a new contract prior to his arrival. However, Guehi will not be able to represent England in their forthcoming matches against Senegal and Andorra due to an injury that occurred during the FA Cup final.
