‘awful’ Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer sends out his harsh opinion of Newcastle United’s performance against Fulham on Saturday
Alan Shearer said that Newcastle United’s game against Fulham was “awful.” Eddie Howe’s team lost their first game of the season.
The Magpies went to Craven Cottage having won three of their first four Premier League games. They were confident that they could keep up their good form on the road at Fulham. However, they left the city having been thrashed 3-1 by Fulham, a team that probably could have scored more goals than the three they scored.

On X after the game, Alan Shearer criticized his old team’s play, writing, “That was awful from Newcastle.” Did what they were supposed to. Fulham is a whole lot better. I’m #FULNEW.
Howe’s team has just over 72 hours to heal and get ready for a Carabao Cup game at the Cherry Red Records Stadium against AFC Wimbledon. The next game is only four days away, against the defending champions Manchester City. This could be a very important time of the season before the next set of foreign games.
