Barcelona manager Hansi Flick gave the reason why Ilkay Gundogan was not allowed to play the match against Valencia
Hansi Flick, the boss of Barcelona, said that he is sure Ilkay Gundogan will stay with the team. He also made it clear that Gundogan’s absence from the game against Valencia was only because he wasn’t fully fit.
“I believe Gündogan will stay with us.” “He wasn’t fully fit to play today,” the boss told Mundo Deportivo after the game.
“He was in some pain.” “I talked to him about it, but that’s between us and not you,” Flick said.
This comment comes after a lot of talk about the 33-year-old midfielder’s future, especially since he wasn’t in the team for the La Liga game against Valencia.
Many people were surprised that Gundogan wasn’t in the group, which led to rumors that the experienced midfielder might be leaving.
His exclusion was seen as more than just a safety measure because he had a lot of knowledge and made a lot of money for the club.
Many people started to think that his silence might have had a deeper meaning, pointing to the fact that the Catalan giants were likely thinking about getting rid of the German international.
Gundogan is not going anywhere.
Soon, rumors started to spread that Barcelona wanted to get rid of Gundogan to make much-needed room in their wage budget.
The club is under a lot of pressure to get new players like Dani Olmo by freeing up salary space, and Gundogan’s possible exit seemed like a good way to do that.
Barça Universal has learned from sources close to Gundogan’s camp that the player has not said that he wants to leave Barcelona.
Gundogan even went on social media after Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Valencia to post a positive message that put an end to the rumors even more.
“Crucial victory in our season opener—good job!” was what he said. “Vamos” showed that he was still committed to the team and happy with the outcome.
Gundogan was one of Barcelona’s best players last season, and Flick expects him to be very important to his plans going forward.
Some fans may have been worried when they heard he was leaving, but Flick’s latest comments and Gundogan’s actions show that he is not going anywhere.
