BBC Sportsound explains reason Hyunjun Yang was a surprise presence on Celtic’s bench against Livingston

BBC Sportsound stepped in to clarify confusion surrounding Hyunjun Yang’s involvement for Celtic against Livingston after the winger was missing from initial team news.

Commentator Liam McLeod informed listeners live on BBC Scotland that Yang had in fact been named on the bench, despite not appearing in the early lineup details. The late clarification came amid a hectic pre-match build-up as fans searched for answers.

Celtic went into the match knowing victory was essential to keep pace with Hearts, who had moved nine points clear after winning the Edinburgh derby the previous day. Supporters were therefore surprised not to see Yang immediately listed, given his recent form.

The South Korean winger has been influential in the title race, contributing six goals and one assist across 29 appearances. His direct style and creativity have made him an increasingly important figure under Martin O’Neill.

Now confirmed among the substitutes, Yang remained an option if Celtic needed attacking impetus later in the game.
