Benjamin Nygren sends title message as Celtic star warns Hearts in Premiership race
In-form Celtic midfielder Benjamin Nygren has made it clear that the title race in the Scottish Premiership is far from over, insisting Celtic FC still believe they can catch Heart of Midlothian F.C. at the top of the table.
The Swedish playmaker has made a strong impression since arriving in Glasgow. Nygren has enjoyed an excellent season, scoring 19 goals and playing a key role in Celtic’s push to defend their league crown.
Speaking to PLZ Soccer, Nygren expressed confidence that the Hoops still have time to turn the race in their favour.
According to the midfielder, the title remains within reach with several matches still to play. He pointed out that Celtic still have another meeting with Hearts, which could prove decisive in the battle for the championship.
Nygren believes the team must seize the moment now and maintain strong performances through the remainder of the campaign if they want to close the gap.
Pressure building in the final stretch
The Celtic star also highlighted how unpredictable the closing stages of a season can be. With the final matches approaching, he stressed that no fixture will be straightforward and that momentum can quickly shift between teams.
Nygren suggested that the pressure will be felt by every club involved in the title race, particularly with crucial head-to-head encounters still to come. One of those key games will see Celtic host Hearts at Celtic Park, a clash that could play a major role in determining the final standings.
Still everything to play for
Despite the gap at the top, Celtic remain firmly in the hunt. The Hoops currently sit second in the Premiership, five points behind Hearts while holding a narrow one-point advantage over fierce rivals Rangers F.C. in third place.
With the race so tight, every match from now until the end of the season will be crucial.
Tough tests ahead for Celtic
Celtic’s next challenge comes against Motherwell F.C., who have impressed this season under manager Jens Berthel Askou. The fixture could prove another important moment in Celtic’s title chase.
Manager Martin O’Neill will be hoping his squad can maintain their momentum in the coming weeks. Some players who have been less prominent recently may also have a role to play as the season enters its decisive phase.
One player who could provide an extra option is Joel Mvuka, who has recently been given encouragement about a possible return to action. Meanwhile, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be hoping to rediscover his best form as competition for places increases.
With Nygren in excellent shape and confidence high within the squad, Celtic remain determined to fight until the very end of the Premiership title race.
