Birmingham City are planning to strengthen their squad when the January transfer window opens, according to head coach Chris Davies.
The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Charlton Athletic at St Andrew’s on Saturday.
Christoph Klarer put the hosts ahead before the break, but Tyreece Campbell restored parity for the visitors in the second half. After 21 Championship matches, Birmingham sit 12th in the table, five points outside the play-off places.
Davies’ side return to action next weekend with a trip to face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
Speaking ahead of January, Davies confirmed the club are assessing areas that need improvement. He believes Birmingham can emerge stronger once the window closes, with both incomings and potential departures being considered.
“We’re looking at a few key positions going into January,” Davies told BirminghamLive. “We want to come out of that window stronger.
Having had a look at the Championship and where we sit compared to other teams, there are some areas we feel we need to address. There are a lot of conversations taking place about how we can improve.”
Davies also acknowledged that decisions may depend on loan players, including Eiran Cashin, who has seen limited minutes so far this season. However, he stressed that the defender remains in contention after recent appearances.
