Birmingham City tracking Barnsley’s Reyes Cleary as transfer bids discussed

Birmingham City are reportedly among the clubs pursuing Barnsley attacker Reyes Cleary.

The 21-year-old joined Oakwell last summer on a three-year contract after finding opportunities limited at West Bromwich Albion. Since arriving in South Yorkshire, Cleary has impressed despite Barnsley’s inconsistent League One campaign.

The former England Under-19 international has featured 25 times in all competitions, contributing five goals and nine assists, performances that have not gone unnoticed.

Championship side Blackburn Rovers have already been credited with interest, and now Birmingham City are said to be in the mix.

According to SportsBoom, the Blues are targeting attacking reinforcements and have identified Cleary as a possible addition.

Barnsley, however, are standing firm. Chairman Neerav Parekh recently revealed that four bids from two Championship clubs have already been rejected, insisting the club will not part with key players below their valuation.

Head coach Conor Hourihane has echoed that stance, stressing his desire to build around Barnsley’s most exciting young talents.
