After a hard hit on Tottenham’s James Maddison at Old Trafford on Sunday, Bruno Fernandes was sent off for Man United.

Jamie Redknapp and Gary Neville don’t agree on why Bruno Fernandes got a red card against Tottenham.

The Portuguese player jumped to make a tackle, but he did it at the wrong time and seemed to lose his balance before hitting James Maddison in the shin. Experts had their say, of course, but it wasn’t a clear-cut choice based on what the regulars on Sky Sports had to say about the Manchester United leader.

Neville said this about the event on commentary: “They’re not happy at all about it.” It’s a red.

Both pundit Gary Neville and Jamie Redknapp deliver their verdict over Bruno Fernandes red card incident during their match defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.

“Up here, we can’t quite see it. Players acting that way, though, makes you think something is wrong. That’s not smart, but Bruno Fernandes isn’t happy.

“I’m not going to do that…” His knees are now up to his chest, Bruno Fernandes. Has he slipped before?

“From the other side, it’s not so bad. He might slip up, but he won’t get away with it.

“The truth is that he slips, reacts, and tries to trip him, but it looks bad because he’s only gone in about knee-high.” It will not be changed, and the referee’s ruling will stand.

“It’s not as bad as I first thought, but that’s how Manchester United has been in this first half, and to be fair, they’ve been terrible.” It’s one of the worst shows I’ve seen since Erik ten Hag was in charge.

But Redknapp didn’t totally agree with Neville. Here’s why: “He slips as he comes in to try and win the challenge,” Redknapp said. He has his feet under him, which you can see.

“That’s small and a little rude.” His feet are under him in that position, which is very bad. “I believe it is a yellow card.”
