BREAKING: After being passed over during the preseason, Newcastle United was forced to make a significant transfer choice about a football manager wonderkid

Garang Kuol missed the 29-man Newcastle team for the pre-season trip to Japan.

Reports suggest Newcastle United want to once more loan teenage prodigy Garang Kuol.

Having agreed to join Newcastle for about £300,000 in September 2022, the 19-year-old is yet to participate in a competitive first team game for the Magpies and has only twice appeared for the senior team. These outings coincided with a post-season tour to Australia as the Magpies battled Tottenham Hotspur and the A League All Stars in late May; it now seems like Magpies supporters will have to wait a little more before they see the kid in Black and White once more.

Kuol was an unused sub during a 2-0 triumph over Hull earlier this week, but with his exclusion from the club’s 29-man squad for the trip to Japan, he looks to be his last excursion with the first team squad for the foreseeable future.

Football Insider knows Eddie Howe does not consider the Australian teenager as part of his plans for the 2024/25 season and believes Kuol’s next move will be a loan term as the Magpies aim to maximize his potential.

Two years prior, Kuol joined with considerable excitement following six goals in eighteen games for Central Coast Mariners in Australia’s top-flight. This style attracted attention from all around and in Qatar 2022 he became the youngest football player to ever represent Australia for a World Cup.

During the group stage, the forward—who became the ninth youngest participant in World Cup history—was momentarily brought from the subs bench against France. Later in the competition against Argentina, he created additional history as the youngest player since Pele in 1958 to participate in a World Cup knockout match; the forward even went almost to score but was prevented by an incredible save by Emi Martinez.

Kuol officially moved to the North East, and he was almost immediately dispatched to the Scottish capital to represent Hearts. Though it was as good as it went as he battled to acclimate to life up north of the border and received just eight appearances of football in six months, the young man famously struck in a dramatic equaliser against Rangers in a 2-2 draw.

Sent on a second-loan term at FC Volendam in the Eredivisie, the young genius once more failed to ignite the globe at the Kras Stadion. With Voldendam demoted with just 19 points from 34 games, he managed one goal in 15 league outings in the Netherlands overall.

Considered as a flexible choice for any possible suitors, Kuol may be played all throughout the frontline. Still, he is not improving at the pace Newcastle United supporters would have expected. His next action will significantly affect his career on Tyneside; it is believed that Newcastle’s loan manager Shola Ameobi is taking his time to evaluate the best forward choice.
