BREAKING: Arsenal 26-year-old goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale officially agreed terms to leave Arsenal and sign a deal with Newcastle United F.C
Aaron Ramsdale, an Arsenal goalkeeper, is supposedly set to join Newcastle United this summer. This comes as the Gunners look for a replacement in the Premier League.
Aaron Ramsdale, the goalie for Arsenal, is said to have agreed to move to Newcastle this summer. The England international was pushed to second choice in North London when David Raya came in on loan from Brentford. The deal is likely to become permanent because it includes a £27 million option.
Ramsdale got a new deal with Arsenal last summer, but he hasn’t played much lately, which has changed his future. His father had said that Ramsdale was “losing his smile” because of the switch, so an escape was always possible.
Sky Sports reporter James Green talked about what he had been told about the situation and the possible deal with Newcastle on The Highbury Squad. Green said, “I understand that Aaron Ramsdale has agreed to join Newcastle in the summer.”
“I heard that directly from someone who is close to someone I know who is close with his agent. He says it’s done, the deal is going through.”
“To be honest, I don’t think that will surprise many Arsenal fans.” I think it was inevitable; he was too good to be a backup goalie.
„He was always going to move on to something new, and I saw some news stories this week about a backup for Raya and what goalkeepers might come in. Some names were brought up, like Jason Steele at Brighton. I believe he would make a great number two.
London footballEarly in the season, it was said that Ramsdale had turned down a club in the bottom half of the Premier League table’s offer. As a 26-year-old, he wanted to take a good step forward in his career. A Newcastle team that could be playing in the Europa League or the Europa Conference League next season, depending on how the FA Cup final goes, would definitely help him do that.
It would also help his career with England, since Gareth Southgate is about to name his team for the European Championships. The head coach of the Three Lions said that Ramsdale would have to start playing to get picked, but he has stayed in the team even though he is Raya’s backup.
If he moved to the northeast, he would have to play against Nick Pope, who is also an England player. The 32-year-old still has two years left on his contract, but he has been hurt a lot lately, which could be why the Magpies want to sign the Arsenal goalkeeper.
There has been no news about an agreement between the teams, even though it seems to be on the player’s side. After signing him for £24 million plus add-ons in 2022, the Gunners will hope that any sell will make them money.
