De Bruyne’s deal with Manchester City ends next summer, and he has been linked with a move to King Saud.

Pep Guardiola has said that Kevin De Bruyne will not be leaving Manchester City this summer, so the team will talk to him about his return to training.

During the transfer window, De Bruyne was highly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. He made City fans nervous when he said twice that he would think about moving to Saudi Arabia if a “absurd” offer came in.

But that offer never came through, and recent rumors that terms had been agreed upon were not true. Guardiola confirmed that “Kevin isn’t leaving” for the first time this summer on Monday in the US.

Now that City is sure of what will happen, De Bruyne will start training again on August 5 at the City Football Academy, along with other players who played in the knockout rounds of Euro 2024. When he gets back, City will try to talk to De Bruyne to find out what he wants to do next summer, when his contract ends. De Bruyne arranged his last new contract himself, using a sports data company to back up his case.

De Bruyne is 33 years old now, but he will be 34 when his current contract is up. For players over 30, City rarely gives contracts longer than one year. This is why Ilkay Gundogan left the club in 2023. But they did extend Kyle Walker’s contract for several years last summer to try to keep him from going to Bayern Munich.

De Bruyne was hurt for five months of last season, but he came back in great shape to show City how good he is. Guardiola said that he is a player who wins games but might not help City play better.

He scored two goals at Crystal Palace and then said, “Ten years in Man City, the numbers, the presence, and the consistency has been amazing.” This player is one of the best Man City has ever had. Kevin won the game today. We might not be able to win today without Kevin. No matter what we talk about, give me guys like Kevin!”

De Bruyne will be in his ninth season at the Etihad this year.
