Breaking: EFL Championship Club Set to Launch January Bid for Rangers’ Breakout Star

Rangers midfielder Kieran Dowell has emerged as a target for Hull City, with the Championship side considering a January loan move, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Dowell has struggled for regular minutes at Ibrox this season, featuring only twice in all competitions and making a single start. The 28-year-old has played just 125 minutes for Rangers, and a mid-season exit appears to suit both the player and the club.

The former Everton academy product has never fully settled in Scotland, with his strongest performances coming south of the border. Before joining Rangers, he contributed nine goals and assists in 19 League One games for Birmingham City.

Hull Push for Dowell Loan

Nixon reports that Hull City are keen on securing Dowell on loan in January. The midfielder is expected to be available, and a return to England could appeal as his contract expires next summer.

Hull believe they can strike an agreement with Rangers, and with Dowell recovering from injury and set to return later this month, the timing could align well for a move.

Rangers Likely to Move On

With Dowell’s deal running down and opportunities limited, Rangers appear ready to part ways. Although new boss Danny Rohl has not yet had a chance to properly assess him, the club is reportedly set on allowing his departure. Rangers are unlikely to earn a transfer fee, but the midfielder did arrive on a free in 2023.
