When Elliot Anderson plays for Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night, they will play his old team, Newcastle United.

In June, the 21-year-old moved from Newcastle to Nottingham Forest for £35 million as the club rushed to meet Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules. Both Anderson and Howe didn’t want to make the move, but Newcastle had to in order to escape losing points for breaking the PSR.

Odysseas Vlachodimos, the goalkeeper, moved the other way during the trade. Already, the Greek international is being linked with a possible move away from the club, which has five senior goalkeepers under contract.

Anderson came off the bench in Forest’s 1–1 draw at home against AFC Bournemouth on the first day of the season. He then started the 1-0 win at Southampton over the weekend. Before leaving Newcastle, the Geordie player played 55 times for the first team.

“It was good to see Elliot play so well against Southampton in the game we watched to get ready for this. I thought he was great and helped them win in midfield.”

That guy could do a lot of different things, and I thought he did great, but it made me sad because we lost a great player and person from the group.

“We wish him luck, but we have to remember that we’re in a game against him.”

After Anderson got hurt, Sandro Tonali’s return will help Newcastle’s center against Forest on Wednesday night. The Italian player has finished his 10-month betting ban and can now be picked again.

Howe hasn’t decided if Tonali will start yet, but he did say that the team that drew at Bournemouth on Sunday would be changed.

Howe said, “We’ll try to play a really strong team.” “We want to move forward, and we will make changes because I have a team that lets me do that without lowering the strength.”
