Corriere dello Sport says that “the new Juventus is taking off,” and the team’s new coach, Thiago Motta, wants to sign the United player as soon as possible this summer.
“The main goal is still Mason Greenwood, the 22-year-old Manchester United winger who got back on track at a high level at Getafe last season,” the news source says.
In Italy, news about the possible move is picking up speed. The United team thinks it would be best to sell the forward, whose return to the team would raise a lot of political and moral questions, and whose contract ends in a year.
Even though they really want Greenwood, the Old Lady are not ready to pay United’s asking price for him. His value dropped after he was charged with a crime two years ago.
As we’ve already said, they plan to get the money they need by moving Federico Chiesa, Filip Kostic, or Samuel Iling Junior. Corriere says the following about Chiesa:
“An offer of €25 million to €30 million is needed to get the Italian forward, and the club must also be able to meet the player’s needs.”
A new report says that Juventus must sign Manchester United star Mason Greenwood this summer and has made him their top goal.
“The fact that his agent, Fali Ramadani, is coming to Italy is not a coincidence. He will take [Juve’s sporting director] Giuntoli on a tour of the possible suitors for his client.
Juve would then have the money to hire a replacement, in this case Greenwood.
United is setting their sights high—at least €35–40 million—because they have to give Getafe 20% of the money they make. In any case, that number is too high because the Englishman’s deal ends in 2025.
Taking everything into account, it looks like the Turin club will plan to use the money from the sale of Chiesa to pay for Greenwood’s whole move. They don’t notice that Chiesa’s deal ends in a year too, which means that his price might also be a bit high.
For United, moving a player Greenwood’s age and skill level, even for €35 million (£30 million), would be a disaster. However, some have said that making any money from his sale is wrong after what happened in 2022.
It would be very good for Juventus to trade a star player who isn’t playing well and is unhappy for a 22-year-old player who has reborn and has world-class potential.
