There is a big chance that Newcastle United will not be able to sign Liam Delap this summer.
The striker for Ipswich Town had a great first season in the Premier League. His £30m release clause is now live, so he is likely to leave Portman Road this summer. A lot of top English teams are interested in Delap because he has scored 12 goals in the league for the Tractor Boys.
There are a lot of teams interested in Delap, and Newcastle United is said to think he would be a great assistant to Alexander Isak during a season that will include some kind of European football. Delap has already shown that he can play well in the Premier League, so he can also jump right in and start contributing right away.
However, Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in the striker, and it is said that Delap is their first choice scorer. Several clubs will be unhappy with where Delap ends up this summer. According to the latest news, it could be one of the two teams that played at St. James’ Park on Sunday.
Liam Delap move news
TalkSport says that Delap is getting closer to moving to Old Trafford this summer. They say that Delap wants to move back to the north west. He worked his way up at Manchester City before making the move to Portman Road last summer.
The team led by Ruben Amorim is currently 16th in the Premier League table and can’t finish higher than 13th this season. But they can get into the Champions League through the Europa League, which is a back door.
This season, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have scored only seven league goals between them, which is five less than Delap has scored for a team that was dropped. Delap’s chances of getting called up to the England team may also improve with a move to Old Trafford. However, Manchester City will make money from the deal because they included a future sell-on option when they let the striker leave the Etihad Stadium.
The Magpies will have to focus on other things if Delap moves to Old Trafford. Nicolas Jackson will not play for Chelsea at the start of next season because he was sent off against Newcastle on Sunday.

Jackson got a straight red card for elbowing Sven Botman and will not be able to play for three matches. They have three games left. Two of them are against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest before the end of the month. The last game is the first game of next season.
As early as June 1, when the summer transfer window opens for a short time, Delap’s future could be certain. English clubs will only have ten days to take care of any business before the window closed for good on June 10.
After that, it will open again on June 16 and run until September 1. These dates will help clubs that are going to the Club World Cup this summer sign any players they need before the tournament starts on June 13.
