Reports say that Pep Guardiola will leave his job as manager of Manchester City when his contract ends next summer. This gives teams in the running for the Premier League title new hope.
Pep Guardiola will be leaving Manchester City as manager next summer, when his deal with the Premier League champions runs out.
The news is great for teams like Arsenal that are trying to win the Premier League title, but they may not expect City to play as well right after Guardiola’s possible exit.
Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail broke the news tonight. He stated that the 53-year-old hasn’t made a formal decision about his future, but that Manchester City’s leaders are afraid that next season will be his last at the club.
Gaughan also said that the people in charge at Manchester City want to keep Guardiola, but they think he has already made up his mind, even though he hasn’t said so publicly.
Guardiola’s exit might not be the only thing that Manchester City has to worry about in the coming year. The club is also waiting to hear what will happen with the 115 charges that the Premier League has brought against them before next summer.
Just last weekend, Guardiola talked about his own future. He said, “The truth is I’m closer to leaving than staying.” We talked to the club, and now I feel like I want to stay. I’m going to stay next season. We will talk about it during the season, though.
People from all clubs have been responding to the news. One person on X (formerly Twitter) said, “When he leaves, city won’t be as dominant.” I really think we’ll have the best boss in the league after that.
