The defender for Newcastle United, Jamaal Lascelles, gave a report on his long-term knee injury.
Lascelles hurt his ACL in March and was told it would take six to nine months for him to get back to playing. Sven Botman, another Newcastle defender, got hurt at the same time and is expected to be ready to play again before the New Year.

And Lascelles is thought to be a little behind the Dutchman in his comeback. He is expected to come back in early 2025. It was in his “Leadership Group” piece in the Newcastle matchday program that the 30-year-old talked about his recovery.

“Now that I’ve healed from my ACL injury, I’m well past the worst,” Lascelles said. “In a few weeks, I should be able to jog again on the grass.”

“It will take me a while to get back to where I was, but I’m glad to have crossed those off my list. Now I need to put on my boots and move forward slowly.”

“For players who don’t, it would probably be a lot harder, but I like the challenge. I set weekly and monthly goals for myself, and when I meet them, I move on to the next one. Even when I’m not on the field, I still try to do what I can for the group.” At the gym, it’s great to be with other people, and the boys have been great and very helpful.

Botman and Lascelles have kept going to games at St. James’ Park while they were both getting better.

As Lascelles continued, “Sven Botman and I have become very close, and we both say that it’s hard to go to the games.” “I’ll always go to the locker room to cheer on the boys, but when you’re hurt for a while like we were, it can be hard to watch because you want to be on the field representing your team and entertaining the fans.”

“But that’s sports, and things like that happen. I know I’ll be stronger afterward.” We’ve had a good start to the season, so let’s not get too excited or too down. Trust the process and keep working hard.
