After causing a “very messy” situation for the player and Newcastle United, Alan Shearer has recommended that Alexander Isak “sack” his agent.
Isak was expected to emulate Shearer’s success at Newcastle United.
Isak achieved two notable accomplishments during the previous season: he scored the winning goal in the Carabao Cup final, which ended The Magpies’ 70-year trophy hiatus, and he became the club’s second-highest Premier League scorer, trailing only Shearer.
Newcastle subsequently qualified for the Champions League on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign, following Isak’s most recent appearance for the club.
The club and the player appeared to be proceeding smoothly; however, this summer has witnessed a negative turn of events.
After Liverpool disclosed their interest in Isak, the player declined to participate in preseason and the Premier League opener against Aston Villa last weekend, as well as train with his Newcastle teammates.
Isak was also excluded from the PFA Awards after being selected for the Team of the Year on Tuesday night. The striker responded by issuing a statement on social media.
Alexander Isak’s statement
The statement stated, “I am honored to have been selected by my peers as a member of the PFA Premier League Team of the Season for 2024/25.”
“Initially, I would like to express my gratitude to Newcastle United and my teammates for their unwavering support.”
“I will not be present at the ceremony this evening.” I did not feel comfortable being present in the midst of all the events.
“I have maintained my silence for an extended period of time while others have spoken.” This reticence has enabled individuals to promote their own interpretation of the events, despite their awareness that it does not accurately represent the actual words and agreements that were made behind closed doors.
“The truth is that the club has been aware of my situation for an extended period of time, and promises were made.” It is misleading to present these issues as if they are merely emergent.
“The relationship cannot endure when promises are violated and trust is shattered.” That is the current state of affairs for me, and it is for the benefit of all parties, not just myself, that change is necessary.
Alan Shearer responds to Alexander Isak and his agent
Newcastle responded to Isak’s statement by strongly suggesting that the striker would not be sold, thereby leaving the possibility for him to reintegrate into the first-team group.
However, it is improbable that the striker will accept that offer in the near future, particularly given the ongoing nature of the transfer window.
After the statements were made, Newcastle legend Shearer directed his criticism toward Isak and his agent, Vlado Lemic.
“I mean, oh my God, what a ——- mess his agent has made of this, honestly,” Shearer stated in quotes that were shared by Mail Online.
“If I were him, I would immediately summon his agent to a meeting and terminate him on the spot, as he is supposed to be advising him to sign the six-year contract, and there is no get-out clause.”
“I mean, it’s absurd.” Furthermore, it is absurd to assert that an individual stated, “I will be able to leave at the conclusion of the season.” Honestly? I mean, come on.”
Shearer further stated, “I have consistently maintained that there are two perspectives to every narrative; however, my sentiments remain unchanged: he has approached the matter in an improper manner.”
“I simply believe that the release of this statement last night has exacerbated the situation, which was unnecessary.”
“I understand that it was necessary to hear his perspective, and we have now done so. I am not denying that I believe him or Newcastle; I am simply stating that it is a very, very messy situation for both of them.” “It is not advantageous to any individual.”
