“There are a few additional areas that require further exploration.”
“I am extremely pleased with the building, as I have repeatedly stated.” The players are exerting themselves and providing us with their all, but it is evident that there are a few areas in which we need to improve.
“We are all working diligently in those areas, and to be fair, we still have a small amount of time to ensure that we are prepared and prepared for the window to close.”

Matt Targett has joined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan from Newcastle United, according to a statement released by the club.
The left-sided defender will bolster Rob Edwards’ Boro squad after he completes the transition from the Premier League. The preponderance of his career appearances have been in the top-flight, and the former Southampton youngster has amassed over 200.
The player has dedicated his entire career to the Premier League, with the exception of a brief loan with Fulham. After advancing through Southampton’s Academy, he appeared in 63 matches, and he also appeared in 89 matches for Aston Villa. He was the sole player to start all 38 Premier League games in 2020/21 and was awarded the Players’ Player of the Year title. Newcastle initially signed him on a loan in January 2022, and he subsequently transferred to the club for a fee of £15 million later that year.
In a communiqué issued by Newcastle United, it was stated that “Newcastle United full back Matt Targett has joined Championship side Middlesbrough on loan for the 2025/26 season.”
The 29-year-old, who has appeared on 47 occasions for the Magpies since his arrival from Aston Villa in 2022, has relocated to Teesside in pursuit of consistent playing time following injury setbacks in recent years.
He will be joining a Boro team that has made a strong start to the season under Rob Edwards and is presently in second place in the table after winning all three of their opening Championship fixtures. Matt is well-wished by all at Newcastle United during his tenure at Middlesbrough.
Eddie Howe did include Targett in his preseason squad; however, he has since fallen down the pecking order on Tyneside and was not included in the first matchday squad of the season against his former club, Aston Villa. Howe also did not select him for the match against Liverpool on Monday night, as his proposed transfer to Middlesbrough was nearing completion.
