Bo Levi Mitchell claims back-to-back CFL passing titles

Another season, another passing crown for Bo Levi Mitchell.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats veteran quarterback once again topped the CFL passing charts, finishing the campaign with 5,296 yards through the air — narrowly edging out Nathan Rourke of the B.C. Lions, who tallied 5,290 yards.

Mitchell also led the league in touchdown passes (36), marking a career-best, with Rourke finishing second at 31. The 34-year-old Ticats signal-caller was the CFL’s busiest arm this year, pacing all quarterbacks in pass attempts (626) and completions (428) while being the only starter to feature in all 18 regular-season games.

Last season, Mitchell also led the league in both passing yards (5,451) and touchdowns (32).

Rourke, meanwhile, topped the CFL in big plays, completing a league-high 40 passes of 30+ yards, and recording 12 games with at least 300 passing yards — both best marks in 2025. Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Trevor Harrisfinished as the CFL’s most accurate passer, completing 73.6% of his throws.

In the receiving department, B.C. Lions’ Keon Hatcher dominated statistically, leading in targets (145), receiving yards (1,688), and yards after catch (611). He also tied Toronto’s Kevin Mital for the most receptions (102), each adding nine touchdowns. Hamilton’s Kenny Lawler ranked second in total yards (1,433) but topped the league in touchdown catches (14).

In all, 11 receivers surpassed the 1,000-yard mark this season — including three from Hamilton: Lawler (1,433), Kiondre Smith (1,126), and Tim White (1,016).

On the ground, Dedrick Mills of the Calgary Stampeders secured the CFL rushing title, racking up 1,409 yards on 250 carries (5.6 average). He also tied for the league lead in rushing touchdowns (11) with B.C.’s James Butler and Ottawa’s Dustin Crum. Saskatchewan’s A.J. Ouellette (1,222 yards, 8 TDs) and Butler (1,213 yards) rounded out the top three rushers, as six players eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark.

Defensively, B.C. Lions linebacker Micah Awe led all players with 122 defensive plays, including a league-high 114 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble, and a tackle for loss. Teammate Mathieu Betts recorded a CFL-best 15 sacks, finishing ahead of Hamilton’s Julian Howsare (13). Calgary’s Clarence Hicks (12) and Montreal’s Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund (11) were the other double-digit sack producers.

Calgary’s Derrick Moncrief led the league with 12 tackles for loss, while Winnipeg’s Willie Jefferson was tops in pass knockdowns (16).

Five players shared the lead for interceptions (6) — Saskatchewan’s Tevaughn Campbell, Jamal Peters, Hamilton’s Stavros Katsantonis, Calgary’s Adrian Greene, and Toronto’s Tarvarus McFadden. Campbell posted the longest interception return (112 yards) and most return yards (205), while Greene had the most return touchdowns (2).

B.C.’s Sean Whyte was the CFL’s most accurate kicker, converting 39-of-41 field goals (95.1%). Montreal’s Jose Maltos led in total makes (58) and attempts (65), with Winnipeg’s Sergio Castillo nailing the season’s longest kick — a 63-yarder.

In the punting game, Edmonton’s Jake Julien averaged a league-best 51.1 yards per punt, while Calgary’s Mark Vassett led in net average (41.7). Hamilton’s Isaiah Wooden topped the charts in punt return average (15 yards), and Winnipeg’s Trey Vaval led the league in total returns (75), yards (957), and longest return (97 yards).
