On both Friday and Saturday, Twitter, which is owned by Elon Musk, experienced repeated outages. As a result of the Twitter outage that lasted for two hours on Saturday (May 24), Elon Musk stated that he needed to concentrate more on his businesses, as reported by AFP. This follows Musk’s prior statements regarding his intention to reduce his role in the administration of President Donald Trump of the United States.
SpaceX, while also providing Trump with advice on how to reduce the amount of money the United States government spends. The outrage that Musk received as a result of those cuts and the decline in Tesla’s stock caused him to reduce his work in the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) to one or two days per week. Despite this, he continues to be an important counsellor to Trump, as seen by his recent participation in a meeting with the president of South Africa in the Oval Office, as reported by AFP.
Immediately following the downtime, Musk stated that he had been too detached from his subsidiaries. According to AFP, he stated that “major operational improvements need to be made,” citing the fact that the X uptime issues that occurred this week as evidence. Despite the fact that the failover redundancy was supposed to work, it did not. It was 11:00 AM Eastern Time (1500 GMT) when X returned to normal operation, according to AFP.
According to AFP, the SITE Intelligence Group revealed that the hacker group DieNet described the outage as a “test” of their Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) capabilities, which resulted in the overwhelming of X’s systems. The assertion made by DieNet was not able to be verified by AFP, and X did not respond to demands for comment.
