Breaking news: In a visit to Michigan, the Tigers and the Wolverines, the LSU football defensive line target swaps places

The city of Indianapolis (Individuals) Warren Central defensive lineman JJ Finch, who has received three stars for his performance, is continuing to navigate a crucial offseason in his recruitment process, with many official visits scheduled.

As a result of his outstanding junior season on the prep stage, Finch, who is ranked as the best defensive lineman in Indiana, has a multitude of colleges wanting to acquire his services.

During the 2026 Recruiting Cycle, the 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman is ranked among the top 50 defensive linemen, and he has an offer list to back up his claim.

Finch is a recipient of scholarships from a number of prestigious universities, including LSU, Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Tennessee, amongst others.


It has been the hometown Fighting Irish team that has been generating a large amount of excitement over the past few months; however, as the summer months get near, other institutions are beginning to make moves.

Prior to the true freshman defensive lineman joining with the Tigers in December of last year, the highly-touted recruit had previously played alongside Damien Shanklin, who is currently participating in the LSU EDGE program.

According to On3 Sports, LSU started increasing their interest in Finch and were reportedly making a move behind the scenes to acquire the excellent defensive lineman.

During the month of May, On3 Sports recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong made a prediction wherein he predicted that the LSU Tigers will be the ones to secure Finch’s services.

However, Finch’s method of hiring new employees has just undergone a change.

This weekend, the highly sought-after native of Indiana was scheduled to make an official visit to the LSU Tigers; but, he has changed his plans.

Finch has decided to replace his multi-day stay in Baton Rouge with a trip to Michigan, where he will be attending events with the Wolverines. This weekend, he will be in the city of Ann Arbor.

At the moment, Richard Anderson, who is ranked as the best defensive lineman in the United States, has committed to play for LSU. The Tigers are trying to add more talent to their roster in order to compete with Anderson in the future.

The Edna Karr product from New Orleans, Louisiana, made a commitment to the Tigers in June of last year.

Following a season in which he recorded 44 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 18 quarterback hurries, two interceptions, and a touchdown, Anderson was selected for All-State honors in the 5A Football Conference in 2024.

Prior to the start of his senior season, the highly sought-after defensive lineman is ranked as the second best prospect in Louisiana and among the top 25 prospects in the United States more generally.

Now that Shanklin is already on the roster in Baton Rouge, the organization is aiming to bring the former teammates together once more for the college season.
