Following Israel’s strikes and subsequent U.S. attacks on Iran’s nuclear program, President Donald Trump proclaimed on Monday that Israel and Iran had reached a ceasefire after more than a week of fighting. In the early hours of Tuesday, Trump declared that the ceasefire had been implemented.
The announcement was made two days after the United States struck three nuclear sites in Iran, following a missile attack on the United States’ Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday, according to a U.S. official.
The U.S. sent B-2 bombers to deliver 14 Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs, also known as “bunker busters,” over Iran on Saturday, prompting Iran’s attack. On Sunday, Trump declared that “Monumental Damage was done to all Nuclear sites in Iran,” despite the fact that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine has stated that a complete battle damage assessment is still pending.
Trump stated that there was minimal damage to the US base and no Americans were injured.
President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social that Iran’s “very weak” and “expected” missile strike on the United States’ Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday resulted in “hardly any damage” and no injuries to Americans. He also stated that the attack was “very effectively countered.”
Trump also stated that no Qataris were slain or injured.
According to Trump, Iran launched fourteen missiles. He stated that “13 were knocked down, and one was’set free’ because it was travelling in a nonthreatening direction.” The United States and Qatar intercepted 13 of the 14 Iranian missiles, according to a U.S. official. The 14th missile did not reach Qatar. The official also verified that minimal damage was inflicted.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Khamenei, has declared that it will not submit.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the paramount leader of Iran, declared on social media that they would not surrender after attacking a U.S. base in Qatar on Monday.
The post was accompanied by a photograph of a smouldering American flag.
The State Department has issued a worldwide warning to US citizens.
In response to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, the State Department has issued a new global caution alert.
The Middle East has experienced periodic closures of airspace and disruptions to travel as a result of the conflict between Israel and Iran. Demonstrations against U.S. citizens and interests abroad are feasible. The alert states that the Department of State recommends that U.S. citizens worldwide exercise greater caution.
The State Department issued a regional alert earlier this month regarding the conflict, advising Americans in North Africa and the Middle East to exercise an increased level of caution.
