The Italian giants Juventus have issued a statement in response to the order that they must pay their former star Cristiano Ronaldo the earnings that he has not yet received.

A ruling was issued by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) mandating that the Serie A giants pay Cristiano Ronaldo his salaries that were not paid to him.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, there was a dispute that resulted in salary cutbacks, and the court ultimately decided to hand down the verdict.

Ronaldo, who currently plays for Al-Nassr, a Saudi Super League club, stated in front of the court that the Turin giants owed him unpaid salaries of €19.5 million ($20.81 million).

In accordance with the verdict of the court, Juventus will pay Ronaldo approximately half of that amount, with a settlement amounting to 9.8 million euros.

Following the decision, the Italian giants moved swiftly to issue a statement, which read as follows: “The arbitration tribunal ruled that Juve was required to pay half of the sum that was requested by the Portugal striker, who is only 39 years old.”

According to the statement, “They partially granted the request made by [Ronaldo]… ascertaining Juventus’ pre-contractual liability resulting from the failure of negotiations and ordering the defendant to pay an amount of approximately 9.8 million Euros.”

Juventus has also published a statement in which they hint at their desire to contest the result. The statement reads as follows: “The Company, also with the support of its legal counsel, is reviewing the decision made by the arbitration board, reserving all assessments and initiatives to preserve its rights.”
