Royal Antwerp’s goalkeeper, Senne Lammens, has been acquired by Manchester United on the day of the transfer deadline.
Senne Lammens has been inked by Manchester United from Royal Antwerp.
Lammens has signed a five-year contract and will be acquired for £18.2 million, in addition to any additional fees. Lammens traveled to Manchester on the day of the deadline to finalize his transfer, following a breakthrough in negotiations.
Lammens, 23, is regarded by United sources as a promising youth goalkeeper with a promising future. United entertained the possibility of acquiring Emiliano Martinez; however, they are certain that Lammens is the optimal decision.
In his post-Burnley press conference, Ruben Amorim defended his goalkeeper options. However, United made a final effort to sign Lammens in the final days of the window in order to bolster that department.
Altay Bayindir has committed errors against Arsenal and Burnley in the Premier League this season. Recalled against Grimsby Town, Andre Onana committed an error that resulted in the team’s second goal.
In order to prevent Lammens from suffering an injury, Royal Antwerp excluded him from their matchday squads on sequential occasions.
Lammens, who represents Belgium Under-21s, is a young athlete with significant potential, standing at a height of 6ft 3in. In the summer of 2023, Lammens signed for Royal Antwerp on a free transfer after progressing through the junior systems at KRC Bambrugge, Dender, and Club Brugge.
In November 2023, he made his senior debut for the club. He was an understudy in 2023/2024, but he was promoted to first choice the following season.
Last term, Lammens earned 10 clean sheets in 44 appearances across all competitions.
