Breaking news: Manchester United have officially completed their first signing for the summer for £62.5m deal “agreed on”

Matheus Cunha, who was previously employed by Wolves, has joined Manchester United as their inaugural acquisition of the summer transfer window.

The acquisition of Matheus Cunha from Wolves has been disclosed by Manchester United.

Cunha’s release clause of £62.5 million was activated by United at the Molineux Stadium, and the forward has subsequently inked a five-year contract with the option of an additional year.

Upon his return from international duty, Cunha will have officially completed his transition to United.

Manchester United issued a statement announcing that they had reached an agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Matheus Cunha. The Brazilian forward’s contract is contingent upon visa and registration requirements.

In this season’s struggling Wolves team, Cunha contributed six assists and scored 17 goals. He scored directly from a corner at Molineux, earning the title of man of the match in both of Wolves’ Premier League victories over United.

The 26-year-old has been designated as a specialist No.10 in order to enhance United’s attacking capabilities in the absence of the striker.

United declined to surpass the £60 million threshold for any of their five summer acquisitions in the previous year; however, they will distribute the £62.5 million payment for Cunha on an installment basis.

Cunha was described by Amorim as “real quality” prior to the 1-0 loss to Wolves. “He [Wolves coach Vitor Pereira] is performing admirably with his 3-4-3 formation.” He is replacing certain players, including Cunha and the other individuals in question, who are of exceptional quality.

Amorim responded, “I simply provided the example because I remembered Matheus,” when asked about Cunha and potential interest from United. He is accumulating an abundance of objectives. That is all.

Cunha is the inaugural newcomer to enter Carrington this summer. Amorim intends to fortify his squad following the club’s most disastrous season in recent memory.

United had hoped to acquire Liam Delap from Ipswich Town; however, the 22-year-old has elected to join Chelsea, who are expected to activate his £30m relegation clause at Portman Road.

Amorim is anticipated to acquire a new right wing-back, and he will also consider other striker targets.
