BREAKING NEWS: Manchester United to “SACK” 54-year-old coach Erik ten Hag before the FA Cup final? True or False
After beating Crystal Palace so badly on Monday, Manchester United have decided if they will fire Erik ten Hag before the FA Cup final.
Reports say that Erik ten Hag will not be fired before the FA Cup final against Manchester City, even though Manchester United beat Crystal Palace 4-0 on Monday. Ten Hag probably won’t find out about his future until after the derby match at Wembley Stadium on May 25. This is despite the fact that there are two big problems in his team.
United’s game at Selhurst Park was one of the worst in the average years after Sir Alex Ferguson left the club, which kept them in eighth place.
If Manchester United stays below Newcastle United and Chelsea, it will be their worst ever Premier League place and they will not be able to play in the Champions League, Europa League, or Conference League.
Ten Hag’s last chance to save his team’s Europa League spot and, more importantly, his second big trophy in as many years as manager would come in the FA Cup.
The Telegraph says that before that, United’s new leaders plan to let Ten Hag manage their last three league games and the big match at Wembley.
On Sunday, United will host Arsenal, who are in the running for the title, at Old Trafford before Newcastle United comes to town. Ten Hag’s team’s Premier League season comes to an end away at Brighton and Hove Albion.
There are rumors that some United players think the Dutchman’s fate is pretty much set, even if their team beats their fierce rivals to win the FA Cup later this month.
Ten Hag’s problems during a tough season were said to have come from his inability to motivate his team and care about them.
United officials are said to have given up on their hopes of keeping their Champions League status a long time ago because of his inability to get consistent wins this season.
But not being able to play in European football at all next season, not even making their first appearance in the Conference League, would not be well welcomed.
It is said that Jason Wilcox is going through a month-long audit at the club’s Carrington training base. He started his new job as United’s technical director last month.
Ten Hag’s qualifications as a manager will likely be judged based on personal views as well as those made by staff and players.
Wilcox didn’t seem pleased at Selhurst Park as he sat next to Jean-Claude Blanc. Blanc will take over as interim CEO after the FA Cup final until July 13, when Omar Berrada starts.
Both chiefs would have a lot to say if United wanted to make their harsh changes to the football hierarchy even more harsh in the dugout.
