Breaking news: Newcastle United has announced that six of their players will be departing at the conclusion of their contracts

James Huntley, Harry and Rory Powell, and James Donaldson, who were all included on Newcastle United’s substitute for their match against PSG at the Parc des Princes in November 2023, will depart the club upon the expiration of their contracts. Ellis Stanton, who was a member of the Magpies during the preseason last year, will also depart the club.

Jay Turner-Cooke, a former Sunderland midfielder, will be accompanying them in their departure from Newcastle United. After his father’s departure from Sunderland the previous summer, Turner-Cooke relocated to Newcastle United in January 2021.

Turner-Cooke did not appear in a competitive match for the first-team during his tenure on Tyneside. However, he did participate in Howe’s senior matchday selections and played a role during pre-seasons with the senior squad. Turner-Cooke did appear for Newcastle United in a friendly match against Al-Hilal during the mid-season break, which coincided with the World Cup in Qatar.

Turner-Cooke has verified his departure from Newcastle United.
The 21-year-old took to Instagram after Newcastle United announced his departure to share a photo of himself with the senior squad. He accompanied the post with the caption, “Thank you @nufc, Thank you to the staff and players I’ve met along the way. I’ve loved playing and working alongside side you!❤️.” I am eager to see what lies ahead.

After learning that Turner-Cooke and five of his teammates would be departing the academy, academy director Steve Harper expressed his gratitude to all the players who are departing the academy: “I want to extend my gratitude to all the players who are moving on.” The commitment and development of both footballers and individuals are indicative of the dedication they have demonstrated during their tenure at Newcastle United.

“They should be immensely proud of all they have accomplished, as they have been a credit to themselves, their families, and the club.”

“Our assistance does not conclude at this point.” The Academy continues to serve as a valuable resource for them as they advance in their professions, and I eagerly anticipate the destinations to which they will travel. We extend our best wishes for their future success on behalf of all present.

Academy strengthened by recent acquisitions
Newcastle United’s academy has been fortified by recent acquisitions as the club continues to pursue Europe’s most promising young players for development within their system. Baran Yildiz, a Turkish midfielder, joined the team earlier this year. Vakhtang Salia, a Georgian forward, will relocate to Tyneside when he turns 18 in August.

Regarding that recruitment strategy, outgoing sporting director Paul Mitchell stated, “The market is fiercely competitive, as scouting and recruiting emerging talent is a critical component of establishing a sustainable future, particularly within the current PSR framework.”

“We are committed to conducting a comprehensive scouting effort, both domestically and internationally, in order to identify players who can progress through our talent pathway and, ideally, join the first team in the future.”

Antonio Cordero, an 18-year-old winger from Malaga, was also verified by the Magpies earlier this week. He is expected to join the team next month. However, Cordero is expected to be loaned out to another club next season in order to further his development.
