The decision was made public by the Saudi Arabia Football Federation on Monday, just hours before the last round of the Saudi Pro League season. Al-Nassr was in fourth place and couldn’t make it to the AFC Champions League Elite, which is Asia’s best club tournament.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s poor season could still end on a surprising high note after Al-Nassr won an appeal to be given three points. This means that they can now qualify for the Asian Champions League.

But with the extra three points, Al-Nassr moves up to third place and has a chance to pass Al-Hilal for second place in the last round. On Monday night, Ronaldo’s team plays Al-Fateh, and Al-Hilal plays Al Qadsiah.
Al-Nassr would move up to the second level of play in Asia if it comes in third.
In March, Al-Nassr lost 2-1 to Al-Orubah. They were upset that goalie Rafi Al-Ruwaili couldn’t play because he wasn’t a full-time professional.
The Saudi Federation made a decision in favour of Al-Nassr that also moves Al-Orubah down in the rankings.
Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, is the biggest star in Saudi Arabia, but it’s still not clear if the 40-year-old forward will stay at Al-Nassr for another year after his deal ends on June 30. He moved to Al-Nassr for a lot of money in December 2022, but he still hasn’t won a major prize. However, he has 24 goals this season, which is the most in the league.
The 32-team FIFA Club World Cup starts on June 14 in the United States. He is said to be able to play there by loaning himself to another team.
