According to Italian reports, Jadon Sancho is on the brink of a transfer to Juventus following the completion of a €20 million (£17.3m) agreement with Manchester United.
This summer, United have been seeking to sell Sancho after Chelsea declined to acquire the winger for £25 million and paid a £5 million penalty charge to return him to Old Trafford.
Last month, Sancho had reached a verbal agreement with Napoli; however, the Serie A champions declined to meet United’s €25m (£21.3m) asking price.
Juventus and United engaged in a “positive” discussion regarding the acquisition of Sancho this week, as reported by La Stampa. A €20 million (£17.3 million) package has been reached.
According to the report, Sancho has also reached an agreement with Juventus for a contract that is valued at just over €6 million (£5.2 million) annually.
Nevertheless, United and Sancho have not reached an agreement regarding a severance compensation, and the 25-year-old is seeking a minimum of €5m (£4.3m) in order to depart Old Trafford.
Sancho has informed United of his intention to relocate this summer, and the club has advised the winger that he is not required to attend preseason training this week.
Marcus Rashford, Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Alejandro Garnacho have also been granted additional time to resolve their futures. However, Rashford made a surprise return to Carrington on Monday.
Four years ago, Sancho relocated to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in a £73m transaction. He is currently under contract with United for £300,000 per week and has one year remaining on his contract.
Dortmund has also been associated with Sancho this summer; however, the Bundesliga club has refrained from making a transfer.
Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, told Ruhr Nachrichten, “Of course, contact with Jadon is always present, in some way, because we have a very long history.”
However, that is not a concern at this time. At present, we have other priorities, which is why the Sancho issue may have been more prominently discussed in the media than internally.
