Based on the information provided by Logan Murdock of The Ringer, the Golden State Warriors were on the verge of trading Draymond Green to the Memphis Grizzlies.

During an episode of The Zach Lowe podcast, Murdock divulged this information.

“I am aware that there was a deal in place to send Draymond to Memphis, and the return on that would have been interesting,” Murdock said. “It would have been beneficial to Memphis.” As a result of that deal, Steven Adams would have returned to Golden State, along with Dillon Brooks. It is very fascinating because Steven Adams was the driving force behind the team’s close call with defeating them in the first round.

In addition to that, I was also told so by Tyus Jones and a few other individuals. On the other hand, the reason that agreement did not go through was because Tyus Jones was transferred to Washington, which rendered the contract ineffective. They were looking for something like that. It was very important to them to have a backup point guard.

With Green and Stephen Curry, the Warriors have won four championships throughout the course of Green’s whole career. Green has spent his entire career with the Warriors.

Green has a career average of 8.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.6 assists, and he has been selected to the All-Star team four times.

In the second round of the playoffs for this year, the Warriors were defeated by the Minnesota Timberwolves in a series that lasted for five games. After suffering a Grade 1 left hamstring strain in Game 1, Curry was unable to participate in Games 2 through 5.
