BREAKING: Rodri did not receive any congratulations from Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi for winning the Ballon d’Or.
Rodri did not receive any congratulations from Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi for winning the Ballon d’Or.
Rodri, the midfielder for Manchester City, has stated that he was not congratulated by Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, or Karim Benzema in the wake of his Ballon d’Or victory. Additionally, Rodri stated that Luka Modric, a Real Madrid midfielder and a previous recipient of the award, did not extend his congratulations towards him.
October 28 marked Rodri’s acquisition of the 2024 Ballon d’Or at the Théâtre du Châtelet. He won the trophy before Vinicius Jr., the Real Madrid attacker. Rodri asserted that none of the most recent Ballon d’Or victors approached him to extend their congratulations.
The two most decorated Ballon d’Or victors of the generation, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, were included in the list. Between them, Messi and Ronaldo secured an undisputed duopoly on the award during their primes, earning it 13 times.
Ronaldo has five Ballons d’Or, whereas Messi has eight. Rodri, in a recent interview with Diario AS (via @MadridXtra on X), stated, “Messages from previous Ballon d’Or winners? I would like to verify… There are none from Messi, Cristiano, Modrić or Benzema (laughs).”
