Dan Ashworth, who recently moved from Newcastle United to become the sports director at Manchester United, sent a message to the team’s fans.

Newcastle and Man United agreed to pay Ashworth a fee last month so that he could leave his deal and start working at Old Trafford. Man United have already signed Joshua Zirkzee from Bolobna and Leny Yoro from Lille for a total of £88 million, which includes add-ons. This is only three weeks into the job.

Erik ten Hag also signed a new deal at Old Trafford after helping the team finish eighth in the Premier League and win the FA Cup last year. In the meantime, Paul Mitchell has been hired by Newcastle as the sports director at St. James’ Park.

In a column to fans, Ashworth wrote, “This is one of my first chances to talk to Manchester United fans since I started working for the club as sporting director on July 1, so I want to start by saying how happy I am to be here.”

“The end season is always a reset moment for every club, but the sense of renewal has been especially prominent at Manchester United this summer as our new leadership structure takes shape.”

“The first big decision we made this summer was to extend Erik ten Hag’s contract as manager of the men’s first team until June 2026. This shows how much we trust him as one of the best coaches in Europe.”

“It’s important to me that both the women’s team does well and the academy grows and is productive. I have a lot of experience in both areas.” When I worked for Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, and the FA, women’s football was a big part of my job. It will be the same at Manchester United. We want to be a part of the growth of women’s football, which is one of the most exciting parts of the game around the world.

“So it will be a huge moment of pride for me to step into the directors’ box on the home team for the first time when the Premier League season starts on August 16 against Fulham.” The off-season is always a fresh start for every club, but Manchester United has felt especially like a new team this summer as our new leadership structure takes shape. As of right now, Omar Berrada is CEO and Jason Wilcox is technology director. I can promise you that we haven’t wasted any time getting to work.

“This is still one of the biggest football clubs in the world, but that’s not how we measure success. Our goal is to get back to being one of the best on the field.” We will not rest until we have reached our goal with Omar and his new leadership team. It won’t happen overnight.

Ashley got a job at Newcastle in June 2022, but he was put on gardening leave before he had even been there for two years because Manchester United was interested in him. Newcastle and Manchester United finally came to a deal five months ago, letting the 53-year-old start working at Old Trafford.

The compensation fee that was agreed upon by both clubs was not the £20million that Newcastle was first thought to be looking for, but it is said to be around £10million.
