BREAKING: Swansea City have found a 37-year-old manager who is 7x times better than Alan Sheehan and have made contact with him

Kim Hellberg in contention for Swansea City job after Alan Sheehan’s dismissal

Hammarby head coach Kim Hellberg has emerged as a leading contender to take over at Swansea City following the dismissal of Alan Sheehan, according to reports from Wales Online.

The 37-year-old Swede is said to be among the early names under consideration for the vacancy, with Swansea reportedly holding informal talks with him about the role. Hellberg, who began his coaching career in his homeland, has been in charge of Hammarby IF since December 2023, succeeding Marti Cifuentes after his move to Queens Park Rangers.

During his tenure, Hellberg guided Hammarby to back-to-back second-place finishes in the Allsvenskan, narrowly missing out on the title to surprise champions Mjällby this season. Despite that disappointment, his side secured qualification for the UEFA Conference League’s second qualifying round.

Across 73 matches in charge, Hellberg has recorded 41 wins, 15 draws, and 17 defeats, giving him a 56.2% win rate. With the Swedish season now concluded, the young coach could be poised for his first managerial role in English football.

This isn’t the first time Hellberg has been on Swansea’s radar. He was reportedly a strong candidate for the position earlier in the year after Luke Williams departed, and he is believed to have left a positive impression on the club’s hierarchy. However, Sheehan’s successful interim spell earned him the permanent job in April.

Sheehan’s tenure, however, was short-lived. Despite a busy summer window that saw Cameron Burgess, Ethan Galbraith, Zediane Inoussa, and Adam Idah join the squad, Swansea managed just four wins from their opening 15 games, leaving them 18th in the Championship. His final match was a 4–1 home defeat to Ipswich Town, after which the club confirmed his dismissal.

Swansea announced that the search for a new head coach is already under way, and Hellberg is believed to be among the front-runners for the role as the club look to steady their season and climb the table.
