Amadou Onana, a midfielder for Everton, is expected to join Aston Villa as a result of interest from various Premier League teams.
A medical appointment has been scheduled for the Belgian midfielder on Sunday, and Villa are expected to acquire him for £50 million plus add-ons. Belgium was eliminated by France in the last-16 of Euro 2024, and Onana was absent.

The 6ft 5in midfielder has been acquired by Villa, despite the presence of tentative competition from Newcastle United and Manchester United. Earlier this year, the Magpies identified Onana as a potential long-term replacement for Joelinton, who’s future at St James’ Park was uncertain as a result of his contract situation.

However, Newcastle’s interest in Joelinton has diminished as a result of his recent signing of a new contract, which has enabled Villa to intervene and finalize the transaction.

In 2022, Onana transferred from Lille to Everton for a fee of £33 million. He has since appeared in 72 matches for the club, netting four goals. Last season, the Toffees were subjected to two charges for violating the Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules, which resulted in a total of eight points being deducted.
