Brendan Rodgers gave his honest verdict on Celtic performance vs Hibernian
Celtic kept their winning streak going at the start of the 2024–25 season with a smooth 3–1 win over Hibernian at home on Sunday.
Daizen Maeda, who came in for Kyogo Furuhashi because he was hurt, was asked to score today as the center forward. He did a great job, scoring twice in the first half to help the Bhoys move on in the League Cup.
Soon after halftime, winger Nicolas Kuhn joined in to make sure there was no stress in the last few minutes.
Right now it’s a lot of fun to cheer for Celtic. A good-sized crowd came out to cheer on the team today, and they were happy with what they saw.
Manager Brendan Rodgers was also happy, which makes sense. He told BBC Radio Scotland what he thought after the game.
This is what Brendan Rodgers had to say about Celtic’s win over Hibs.
“I thought we were very good,” the Bhoys’ manager said. From the beginning of the game, I thought we were great. We showed that we were hungry. We said before the game that our counter-pressing would be our player today, and it was. A lot of second and third balls were going to us.
“Throw-ins were the only real threat to us.” On each side of the field, there are players who can throw the ball in to add some pressure and make you nervous. We took care of that well. We didn’t give away too much. Their strike looked great.
“The pace of the game, the speed of the game, and the quality of the attacking moments were all great.”
Celtic have a busy next two weeks.
Over the next two weeks, St. Mirren and Rangers are the next teams to play. The next few weeks will be tough, but every Celtic fan is rooting for the team to pass those tests without any problems.
There’s a lot of work to do on and off the field to keep fans happy, plus the transfer window is getting close to closing.
Also, the Champions League draw is coming up on August 29.
