Celtic easily beat Rangers 3-0 in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday, and they even got to play two new players for the first time.

Luke McCowan and Arne Engels didn’t get to Celtic Park until late Friday night, after moves that ended on the deadline day. However, they were both able to show off their skills by the end of the derby win.

As the game went on, Engels came on to replace the great Paulo Bernardo after an hour, and Luke McCowan came on for Reo Hatate with 15 minutes left.

They only touched the ball 39 times between them, so it’s way too early to say how good they are as Celtic players.

But Brendan Rodgers is excited about what they could become and is already feeling good about their appearances in the derby.

Engels and McCowan are “elegant,” and Rodgers likes them both.
When asked about McCowan [Celtic Way], he told the press after the game, “It’s so nice for him.” I believe he was dreaming when he went out there.

There’s something different about the bones in your legs when you play that game. He worked hard and had some great plays when he got on the field. He’s a guy who will be important to us all season.

“Good for him, and good for Arne Engels to join. You can see how graceful he is on the field, and he has a lot of potential for a young man.” That’s the reason we called him in. There is a lot of growth in every player.

Rangers game showed how deep Celtic is.
People who were rooting for Celtic before the game talked about how strong their bench was for the derby. A lot of game-changers and star players were ready to take part.

That will be very important as the season goes on and injuries or physical problems happen. Rodgers should be able to keep a great eleven on the field unless there’s a major emergency.

Engels and McCowan are just starting, but they’ll get a lot of playing time quickly because Celtic’s schedule gets busier after the international break. A lot of people are excited to see what they can really do.
