Brendan Rodgers is expected to authorize the initial Celtic transfer loan exit of the January window.

Brendan Rodgers is expected to authorize Celtic’s initial departure when the January transfer window opens in less than 24 hours.

Rodgers has been transparent about his intention to fortify Celtic in the forthcoming month; however, it appears that his initial action will be to permit a player to depart on loan.

The Celtic manager has the luxury of playing a number of players who are currently on the sidelines and will be eager for game time. This is due to the exceptional caliber of the players at his disposal.

Rodgers appears to have established his intentions early, and it appears that the initial Celtic departure will occur upon the opening of the January window. Stephen Welsh is expected to depart Celtic on a loan.

Stephen Welsh is expected to depart Celtic on loan in January, as the defender has yet to establish himself in the first team this season.

Welsh is currently ranked fourth in the succession order at Parkhead due to the performances of Celtic defenders Auston Trusty and Liam Scales.

Rodgers has acknowledged the necessity of providing Welsh with first-team minutes. According to The Daily Record, Celtic’s manager has authorized Welsh to relocate to KV Mechelen, a Belgian Pro League team, on a loan.

, which is currently eighth in the league table and has conceded 26 goals in just 20 games, is only three points away from the league title play-off positions. They have made proposals to acquire the 24-year-old defender, and they believe that Welsh can strengthen their defense.

In 2017, the defender advanced to the development squad after joining the Parkhead club as a youth player. Welsh, who made his first-team début in a 4-0 victory over Hamilton Accies in 2017, has encountered difficulty in securing a consistent starting position in the Celtic first team.

Welsh has only appeared in 68 games for Celtic throughout his career, and at the age of 24, he requires first-team football to facilitate his growth. Welsh will have the opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities during a loan stint at Mechelen.

This will enable him to either emulate the course of Liam Scales and secure a position at Celtic or to establish himself as a top-tier player for the majority of Scottish Premiership teams.
