Brendan Rodgers is threatened with a UEFA touchline suspension, and Celtic has been issued yet another fine. Brendan Rodgers is currently under consideration for a UEFA touchline suspension.

UEFA’s disciplinary proceedings report, which was published earlier today, sanctioned Celtic three times for two matches that were played against Bayern Munich in the Champions League knockout playoff. The Hoops were fined €9,000 for the obstruction of public passageways during the inaugural match at Celtic Park, in accordance with Art. 38 of the UEFA Safety and Security Regulations.

However, the more significant issue emerged during the second leg. After the UEFA Celtic judgement, Rodgers is facing a touchline ban. Celtic were assessed a distinct €10,000 fine for the late kick-off in accordance with Art. 11(2)(h) DR of the regulations. Rodgers will be subject to a one-year suspended match suspension as a result of his involvement in the delay, according to the ruling.

This occurs during the probationary period of one year, which implies that any comparable incident would result in a touchline suspension for the manager for any UEFA match, including the Champions League and Europa League, should Celts participate in those competitions in the upcoming season and beyond. It follows on from prior incidents, such as the threat of an away stadium ban for Celtic supporters in connection

with their use of pyro at Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund. Additionally, the Scottish champions have been subjected to financial penalties on numerous occasions this season. The Hoops were required to pay a fine for their fan-induced anarchy at Aston Villa, and they were also penalised for their performances at Dortmund. This is not Celtic’s initial UEFA sanction of the season.

Celtic has previously criticised certain segments of its fan base for endangering the club’s finances. “The Club has received the decision issued by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body in the aftermath of the match against Borussia Dortmund. The Club has been sanctioned once more for the lighting of fireworks by a small number of individuals attending the match.”

The decision stipulates that the Club will be prohibited from selling tickets to supporters for one away match in UEFA club competitions if such conduct is repeated at a match in the next two years, in addition to receiving a €20,000 fine. For several years, the Club has been unequivocal in its stance that the use of fireworks and pyrotechnics at matches is strictly prohibited,

as it poses a danger to the safety of supporters and the Club in accordance with the relevant regulations. “It is therefore extremely disheartening that the actions of a small minority have resulted in this decision, which has the potential to have a detrimental and detrimental effect on the team and Celtic supporters who wish to attend an away match to show their support.”
