Brendan Rodgers responds promptly to Rangers’ defeat at Aberdeen as Celtic extend their lead.

Brendan Rodgers expressed his satisfaction with Celtic’s 2-0 victory over Dundee following Rangers’ defeat at Aberdeen. Rodgers also noted that Celtic

had extended their lead. The manager observed his players struggle during the first half, but they regrouped after the interval and scored goals through Arne Engels and Alistair Johnston. The substitute’s first goal was a toe-poke, while the second was scored from the penalty spot. However, the three points and clean sheet were the most important factors in ensuring that the Hoops remained at the summit of the Scottish Premiership. The victory maintains Celtic’s position at the summit, where they remain with a superior goal difference. However, they are currently tied on points with Aberdeen, the surprise product of the season thus far. In the other significant domestic match of the evening, Jimmy Thelin’s troops defeated Rangers at Pittodrie to maintain their impressive start, despite the fact that it may be premature to discuss their title fight credentials. It seems that the Granite City club is more likely to pose a challenge for Celtic than the Light Blues; however, Rodgers declined to pay significant heed to the northern fixture. Celtic are nine points ahead of Rangers in the Scottish Premiership. In response to a question regarding Rangers’ loss to the Dandies on BBC Sportsound, Rodgers refrained from discussing anything other than his team’s facile victory over the Dees.

He did, however, acknowledge that Thelin’s team has made a strong start to the campaign and will be difficult to defeat in the League Cup semi-final at Hampden this weekend. “My sole objective is to enhance our performance throughout the season.” He stated, “We have made an excellent start domestically.” Rangers were defeated by Aberdeen by a score of 2-1 at Pittodrie. “We should prevail against Aberdeen here.” We were somewhat negligent; however, we will improve and apply the lessons learned. So I am extremely satisfied with our current situation. The squad, the spirit, everything is just fantastic. Some of the football has been exceptional, but there are still numerous areas for development, as it is only a 10-game season.
