Bristol City forward tipped for exit as Robins chase £5m prospect and Rovers make move

Bristol City are continuing to shape their squad as the January window nears its conclusion, with promotion hopes still firmly in sight.

Funds are available following Anis Mehmeti’s £3m move to Ipswich Town and a valuable sell-on benefit from Antoine Semenyo’s transfer to Manchester City.

So far, Sam Morsy and George Earthy are the only arrivals, though Delano Burgzorg has been strongly linked and the club are thought to be leading the chase for 17-year-old Irish prospect Billy O’Neill.

One player who could be heading out is striker Fally Mayulu. Reports from Poland suggest Pogon Szczecin are interested in the 23-year-old, with a potential €1.5m offer mentioned.

Mayulu joined from Rapid Wien for around £3m but has struggled for impact, scoring twice in 15 games before a loan spell at Sturm Graz. Back in England, he has found game time limited and sits behind Emil Riis and Sinclair Armstrong in the attacking hierarchy, making a departure increasingly likely.

City are also in the mix for Barnsley forward Reyes Cleary, though they face competition from Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers.

The 21-year-old has impressed in League One with five goals and seven assists and caught the eye in the FA Cup against Liverpool. Barnsley are said to value him at around £5m.

Across the city, Bristol Rovers are also active as they fight to avoid relegation trouble. Head coach Steve Evans confirmed the club have made a six-figure offer for an unnamed striker, adding to their recent addition of Dutch forward Mees Rijks.

Evans explained that several options had been assessed, with one preferred target now the subject of a formal bid.
