After verifying his departure from Fenerbahce, Newcastle United fan favorite Allan Saint-Maximin is expected to be on the move once more this summer.
It has been nearly two years since Saint-Maximin relocated from Newcastle United to Al-Ahli, a Saudi Pro League club, in a permanent transfer valued at approximately £22 million.
In his inaugural season in the Saudi Pro League, the French winger contributed to 10 goals and tallied four goals in 30 appearances, helping Al-Ahli secure third place. However, Saint-Maximin joined Turkish giants Fenerbahce on loan for the 2024-25 campaign after acknowledging that the campaign was “not easy.”
Saint-Maximin’s campaign was characterized by its ups and downs, as he was not well-received by manager Jose Mourinho, which resulted in a public spat between the two. In January, he was frequently associated with a potential transfer to Napoli, the eventual champions of Serie A; however, negotiations were unsuccessful.
Saint-Maximin scored on his final match for the club before his season was cut short due to injury, and he contributed four goals and five assists in 31 appearances for Fenerbahce.
Saint-Maximin shared a video of his Fenerbahce highlights on social media, accompanied by the caption: “Can’t thank you enough for all the love and support throughout the year 💛💙.”
“It was a beautiful but challenging experience, with issues that extended beyond football. However, I am grateful that everything is now in order.” Despite these complications, I performed at my highest level on the pitch, and I am appreciative of the unwavering affection and encouragement you extended to me on a daily basis.
“Fener will always hold a special place in my heart. I would like to extend my gratitude to all and wish you the best of luck 🤝.”
What is the future of Allan Saint-Maximin? Maximin will now return to Al Ahli; however, it is uncertain whether he will remain at the Saudi club or be on the move once more. The likelihood of a summer exit is high, as he intends to remain in Europe, given the interest he garnered during the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old continues to demonstrate his loyalty to Newcastle on social media, even two years after departing the club.
Following Newcastle’s Carabao Cup victory in March, Saint-Maximin, who was a member of the club’s 2023 runners-up squad, referred to Alexander Isak as a “legend” and addressed Bruno Guimaraes as “my bro.” He also included a “hand heart” and “happy tears” emoji.
made him a fan favorite at Newcastle after he relocated from Nice in 2019. The French maverick was frequently the guiding light during periods of darkness in the Premier League that preceded the club’s 2021 acquisition.
He subsequently appeared in 124 matches for the club, scoring 13 goals, and is still fondly remembered by Newcastle supporters.
