Celtic Football Club has successfully negotiated a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal for the acquisition of Kieran Tierney, who is set to join the club next summer on a free transfer.

The Scottish left-back has a few months remaining on his current contract, and Celtic has successfully convinced him to rejoin his former club. He is set to join the Bhoys on a four-year contract during the summer.

The Hoops engaged in discussions regarding the potential acquisition of him on loan in January; however, Arsenal is not prepared to authorise the transfer. Arsenal possesses Riccardo Califiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly as options for the left-back position; however, Mikel Arteta remains hesitant to part ways with Kieran Tierney during the January transfer window.

Alex Valle has also departed from Celtic. He commenced his tenure during the summer on a loan agreement from Barcelona. The Catalan powers have summoned him back and subsequently loaned him to Como.

Consequently, Celtic is left with Greg Taylor as their sole recognised left-back. The Scottish champions are currently seeking to acquire a new left-back on loan and have expressed interest in acquiring Tyrell Malacia, a defender from Manchester United.

Celtic is encountering competition from Real Betis for the services of the 25-year-old defender, who has recently resumed play following an 18-month hiatus due to a knee meniscus injury sustained in November.

Manchester United is open to considering offers for Malacia, and Celtic is required to submit a formal loan proposal in order to secure his signature. The Dutch left-back has commenced only two matches in the Premier League and has participated in three fixtures in the Europa League.

Furthermore, Malacia is likely to descend further in the hierarchy following Manchester United’s completion of an agreement with Lecce for the acquisition of defender Patrick Dorgu. Malacia is expected to serve as a valuable backup option for Taylor in the left-back position, and a loan arrangement is advantageous for all parties concerned.
